Employers & Youth: Thank you to all of the organizations, agencies, and governmental units who are currently serving as host worksites for the Summer Youth Employment Program for youth between the ages of 16 and 18! Our 16 to 18 year old Summer Youth Employment Program is funded and we will go forward to provide summer jobs in 2010. These youths will start their jobs on June 21, 2010, with their Orientation taking place on June 14 – 16, 2010. An additional Summer Youth Program had been proposed for youth between the ages of 19 and 21, but the Senate has not taken action on the bill to fund this program, and so unfortunately, there will not be sufficient time to implement the program. Therefore, there will not be a Summer Youth Employment Program for youths 19 to 21. We had asked that Broward County’s 211 agencies assist in providing worksites for the youth in the 19 and 21 year old program, particularly because of the potentially short time frame we faced in placing these youth. We want to thank the 211 Agencies for their generous response to our request for help! |
