-
Q: How do I qualify for a summer job?
A: You must be a Broward County resident between the ages of 16-18, and meet eligibility requirements, including the income of your family. Other eligibility requirements may apply.
-
Q: Are there other requirements?
A: Yes. All youth invited to participate in the program will be required to attend the SYEP 2010 Training Workshops
scheduled for Saturday, June 12, 2010, Monday, June 14, 2010, and Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Attendance is
mandatory for all three workshops. You will be paid for attendance, and
you must attend on each date. These workshops will discuss topics that will help you have a successful summer work experience. To be admitted to the workshop, students must have submitted (to WorkForce One) all of the completed forms that were mailed to them in their SYEP Packet, including a signed Social Security Card and a valid Florida Identification Card or valid Florida Driver’s License. Your packet will include the dates for you to bring all documents to the Workforce One office. Depending upon your job assignment, WorkForce One may need to conduct a background check. If the background check identifies any concerns, WorkForce One will contact you
immediately.
-
Q: How much will I earn and how will I get paid?
A: Youth will be paid $7.25 an hour. Your pay will be deposited into a debit account provided by Bank Atlantic. Each participant will be issued a debit card from Bank
Atlantic to withdraw pay. If debit cards are lost, stolen or misplaced, contact your assigned Worksite Monitor and Bank Atlantic immediately. You will receive payment for the hours recorded on your timesheet. Payments are deposited every two weeks. During
training, you will receive a schedule of the deposit weeks.
